ELLSWORTH, WI – The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office will be increasing enforcement efforts through the participation in a “Click it or Ticket” traffic safety campaign along with nearly 400 other statewide agencies in an effort to gain voluntary compliance for Wisconsin’s mandatory seatbelt law through increased enforcement. The first campaign is May 21 - June 3, 2018. The other campaigns have not been released from the state yet.

“Our focus is to convince every motorist and passenger to voluntarily use their seat belts and reduce the number of preventable traffic fatalities to zero in Wisconsin.  We take these enforcement campaigns serious because we have investigated to many fatal accidents in Pierce County.  Almost all of these deaths could have been prevented by simply using the factory installed safety belts and helmet use when operating a motorcycle.”

Putting things into perspective, it literally takes seconds to fasten a seat belt before operating or riding in a vehicle.  Even though traffic accidents cannot be predicted, each motorist can do their part by taking these few seconds of preventing themselves from becoming a statistic.

Please remember to “Click it” every time you get into any vehicle because if you are involved in a serious motor vehicle accident you may not have an opportunity for a second chance.
