ELMWOOD, WI – The Elmwood School Board upon the retirement of Paul Blanford has hired Elmwood graduate Glenn Webb who most recently was the High School Principal and Director of Teaching and Learning at St. Croix Central. The Board made the hire on July 2, 2018.

The Board members present for the meeting were: President Bill Stewart and Trustees Marge Binkowski, Josh Bleskacek, Paul Unser, Dolores Radtke, Richard Jones and Rick Stohr.

  • Deadline fast approaching for ‘Most Admired Senior Citizen’

    PIERCE COUNTY, WI – The Pierce County Fair Office announced back in early June due to its great success, “The 12th annual Pierce County Fair’s Most Admired Senior Citizen” event will continue to be in the Fair’s line-up.  Time is ticking away – the nomination deadline is Friday, July 20, 2018 (postmarked).  An entry form and copy of the rules can be obtained by calling the Fair Office at 715-273-6874 or by visiting the fair website at: co.pierce.wi.us/fair/fair_main.php and click on Most Admired Senior Citizen.

  • Elmwood Food Pantry receives Hugh J. Andersen Foundation Grant

    ELMWOOD, WI – Elmwood's Food Pantry received a $3,000.00 grant award from the Hugh J. Andersen Foundation earlier this year, to be used for remodeling and operating expenses in 2018. The stated mission of the Hugh J. Andersen Foundation is to give back to the community, and we are very grateful for their generosity!

  • Pierce County Dairy Breakfast is soggy, well attended

    SPRING VALLEY, WI – Mother Nature unleashed a torrent of wind and rain last Saturday morning, June 16, just as the final setup for the 2018 Annual Pierce County Dairy Breakfast was occurring at the host site of the Colbenson Family’s Ti-Shi Dairy in rural Spring Valley, Wisconsin. But the Pierce County Dairy Promotion Committee (PCDPC) was prepared for that and the event was well attended as the heavy weather passed through the area early on. The PCDPC is one of the sponsors of the Pierce County Dairy Breakfast.

  • Great turnout for 2018 Community Safety Day

    SPRING VALLEY, WI – Threatening weather held off last Friday afternoon, June 15 for the 2018 Community Safety Day hosted by the by Spring Valley Area Emergency Services at the Syverson Practice Field right next to the Spring Valley Dam at the north end of McKay Avenue in Spring Valley. The event occurred from 4 to 7 p.m. and then about 7:15 the heavens opened up and gave us another good soaking.

  • Annual Community Vacation Bible School ‘made by God’

    SPRING VALLEY, WI – The 21st annual Spring Valley Community Vacation Bible School took place June 10 through 14, 2018, at the Brother Michael Center and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spring Valley, Wisconsin. 

  • Brat stand raises funds for St. John’s youth gathering trip

    WOODVILLE, WI – Northside Power Equipment in Woodville was the site of a tasty fundraiser put on by four kids from St. John’s Lutheran Church in Spring Valley who are part of a group going on a mission trip shortly to Texas. There are eight students, their pastor and three chaperones going on the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA) Youth Gathering in Houston, Texas next week for seven days.

    SPRING VALLEY, WI – In planning for the 9th Annual Spring Valley Education Foundation Fundraising Gala the idea of moving the event to April made perfect sense. The weather would be good by Saturday, April 14, people would be around and that was the plan.

    ELMWOOD, WI – The Elmwood Expos have a new great ball diamond and park in Sportsman Field thanks in part to a fantastic arrangement with Elmwood Rod & Gun Club for a donated piece of land on a 20-year renewable lease.

  • Michael McDonnell of SV to receive prestigious National Science Foundation Fellowship

    EAU CLAIRE, WI – It turns out that good things do happen after midnight. Just ask Michael McDonnell of Spring Valley, Wisconsin, a UW-Eau Claire physics and mathematics major who received a middle-of-the-night email from the National Science Foundation telling him he is among an elite group of students selected to receive a prestigious fellowship that will fund his graduate studies.
